I posted a brief on this event earlier this week, but I just received the full information. This is a wonderful event!
The Long Lane Lions Club will present the 12th Annual Rockin M Youth Rodeo starting at noon on Saturday, Sept. 19, at the Lions Club Arena.
Classes offered include:
Ages 6 and under: stick horse race, mutton busting, goat throwing, chute roping and barrel racing.
Ages 7-9 and 10-12: steer riding, goat throwing, chute roping and barrel racing.
Ages 13-16: steer riding, goat tying, breakaway roping and barrel racing.
Ages 9 and under: chicken race
Ages 12 and under: calf scramble.
All ages: egg ‘n spoon.
Entry fee is $1 per class with ribbons awarded for first, second, third and fourth place in each class. Entry books will close promptly at 11 a.m.
Buckles are presented by: All-around Cowboy, by Tracy Strickland, Shelter Insurance; All-around Cowgirl, by Dr. Leon Jenkins; High point — ages 6 and under, by Larry Newkirk and Mike Morgan; ages 7-9, by Mike and Jane Owen; ages 10-12, by Bill and Julie Crawford; ages 13-16, by Kenny and Melissa Storie; Burtin Cup, by the Burtin family and B&B Sales; Weston Riggs Young “Heart of a Cowboy” award, by the Bennett family.
Admission at the gate is $5 for adults, and children 16 and under are free. Concession stand will be open.
