See this? The above picture signifies my lack of blogging- yet again. No, the weather hasn’t knocked out my satellite (yet), but it is keeping both of my boys home- again!!! I love having them here, don’t get me wrong, but our house is turning to chaos. Laundry is piling up, toys are everywhere, dishes are stacked to look like small mountains that could topple at any moment, creating a larger mess. It seems that I can get so much more done in a Monday than I have since the start of Flex’s extended Christmas Vacation (December 10th if you’ve forgotten).
The snow is beautiful (although substantially more than the trace to <1″ that was projected), but with it came frigid temperatures. The wind chills are in the single digits and actual highs are in the teens. We actually have a forecasted low of -12 later in the week.
Another snowstorm is on the way for Wednesday that will supposedly dump another 4-6 inches on us. Let’s hope this follows the prediction of the Christmas Eve storm that dropped about 6 inches LESS than predicted.
Our power went out for quite a while this morning, which is really scary in temperatures so cold. My grandmother and aunt are on the same grid, while my parents are connected. If we’re all out, we’re in trouble!!!
If you’re from the SWMO area, you will be thrilled to know that the Ice Storm of ’07 was three years ago next week. This storm resulted in a 17 day power outage for us. Luckily, the temps hovered in the upper 20′s and lower 30′s then. The following year (to the day) was a terrible tornado outbreak which left us sheltered in the basement with no power for an entire night. Last year, we set record high temperatures with highs in the low 70′s.
Today’s plan is to get the house in order and set up some blog posts to run over the next few days. I am terrified of another 2.5 week long power outage, but at least I know now what to do to make it a little easier. I really hope that it was just a fluke outage this morning, but I’m not ready to take any chances!!!
Stay warm and stay safe!!!
