SWMO Deals | JBF Sale

My kids start huge and finish small.  They wear their clothes for very long periods of time, unlike most kids that switch sizes every year.  Until this year, the kids wore the same sizes that they had for the past 4-5 years!  Unfortunately, Ethan decided to hit this crazy growth spurt this fall.  He jumped three jeans sizes in 2 months!  Needless to say, I’ve got tons of clothes to get rid of.

I’ve always been one to donate things or stick them in someone else’s garage sale.  There’s been a few several occasions where I’ve just pitched it all, because we don’t have room to store it.  This year, I’ve been diligently putting it in a big pile, just waiting for the JBF sale so that I could share my experience with you guys.

The Just Between Friends (JBF) sale is actually held all over the country.  This sale gives you the opportunity to get competitive prices out of new and gently used items.  It also gives you a place to shop for great items at a discount!

I recently attended a class hosted by the JBF team that helped me to understand the tricks behind this sale.  I’d looked into it before and was completely overwhelmed with everything that I needed to know and do.  These girls were amazing (and the food was great, too)!  I feel like I can tackle this- at least well enough to get rid of the masses of jeans and baseball pants I have.

The next JBF sale will be held in Springfield, April 6th-9th.  All consignment items  must be dropped off on April 3rd or 4th, please see the schedule for more information.

Before you get started sorting and tagging, you’ll need to gather all of you spring/summer clothing.  They also accept toys, furniture, and other items.  Click here to see everything that you can sell.  Make sure you read the regulations for all items here.

You’ll need to read all about tagging and assemble your tools.  You’ll need white cardstock, a printer, ink, safety pins, scissors, Scotch packing tape, wire hangers, and ziplock baggies.

Head on over to the My JBF Tagging site (you’ll need to create another account) and start plugging in your information.  The JBF girls suggest tagging your items in sets of 10 to avoid becoming overwhelmed.

When tagging your items, be as descriptive as possible.  Don’t type in ‘red shirt’, use a description such as ‘Red Old Navy T-Shirt with Blue Lettering and White Baseball, Size 6’.  If your tag falls off, you want them to be able to find place it with your item!

During the sale, you’ll be able to track all of your profits online.  Your account is updated as soon as an items is sold.

The percentage you will receive for each sale is dependent upon the amount of hours you volunteer at the sale.    The base commission rate is 65% of your tagged price and increases with every 4 hours you spend volunteering.  You’ll also get to shop earlier for volunteering.

I hope to learn more about this by experience to share with you- and I will definitely be posting some pics of my stuff and profit totals in the coming days.

JBF is great for selling and buying kids’ clothes. I recommend it to all mommies and grandparents.

I have done the JBF sale 4 times now (this will be by third as a consignor) and have always had a WONDERFUL experience. The process is always very simple and lots of organization to help you along the way. I have gotten my check within two weeks (maximum) from the end of the sale and have always gotten back everything that I should have if it didn’t sell. This is a great way to get new things for the kiddos that you didn’t have to pay a fortune for (since they won’t be in them that long anyways)!
